Southampton's current owner Jisheng Gao has completed The sale of an 80% stake in The club and The club is set to change ownership, according to The Athletic.


Chinese businessman Gao Jisheng, who bought an 80 per cent stake in Southampton in August 2017, opted to leave the Premier League club in January this year, selling the 80 per cent stake he bought at the time, which had been tipped to be worth more than £250m.


Last month it emerged that two companies were making progress in negotiations with Mr Gao. Gao jisheng and the new owners have officially reached an agreement. Hasenhuettel and the players will be formally informed soon. Over the past four weeks, the negotiations have been progressing smoothly and an agreement was reached just after Christmas.


Southampton have been on the market for between 18 and 24 months as a whole, attracting interest from a number of consoriums, but potential buyers have been put off by the pandemic or previous problems with the formation of The European Premier League.
